‘Y’ type strainers are low-cost equipment for the mechanical removal of contaminants and solids from liquid, gas, or steam lines. This is carried out by means of a perforated plate or wire mesh straining element. ‘Y’ Strainers are convenient to install in Pipelines to protect pumps, meters, control valves, and other expensive equipment.

‘Y’ Type Strainers are effective for the removal of foreign particles in a cost-effective manner from pipelines. ‘Y’ Strainers are normally installed when the number of solids to be removed is small. These Strainers are installed in line with the Pipeline and in situations where frequent clean-out is not required.

‘Y’ Type strainers can be installed in either a horizontal or vertical position. The Strainer element is typically manufactured in SS304 material. Y Strainers provide excellent protection for downstream equipment like boilers, pumps, valves, and other related equipment.
